We reserve the right to postpone or cancel any course without notice. Attendees may cancel up to 48 hours in advance without penalty. Cancellations up to 24 hours in advance incur no penalty if the minimum number of attendees is maintained. Otherwise, and always in the case of no-shows (except in the cases of medical emergency and family bereavement) a 100% penalty of the tuition (not including materials fees, if any) is levied.
Registration is closed

Participants of this class will be introduced to the multimeter and trained on how to use this electrical instrument to measure voltage, resistance, amperage and continuity. Participants will then learn resistor color codes, and use that knowledge to design and wire LEDs and electronics onto a breadboard and troubleshoot their designs until they work as calculated. The student will then calculate the battery energy needed to run their electronic project.

The class a single module, organized as an interactive slide deck presentation, with a hands-on component and examples performed by the students.

Entry-level makers, costumers, hobbyists, technician and experienced engineers will find this class useful. Students jump right in and build a circuit using resistors and LEDs, then use the multimeter to probe and measure their circuit. The students then apply their knowledge by building a custom battery-powered LED electronic circuit. These concepts apply to off-grid builders, or costumers designing technology into their art.

Prerequisites: No previous electronics experience is required. An understanding of algebra is helpful.

Please arrive 10 minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork. Our shop can be a little tricky to find so we suggest giving yourself extra time for traffic and parking.
