The metal lathe can be used for a variety of applications. Whether you’re turning smooth cylinders, shaving down material to precise tolerances, drilling holes, the metal lathe can be used with a variety of tooling to create different effects. Our members have turned everything from small steel pins to locomotive parts!

This course will cover material selection, proper set up of the chuck and tooling, and different cutting. The first portion of this class will be lecture based with instructor demonstration followed by a free period of hands on practice and Q&A.

A $10 materials fee covers each student’s metal stock.

Please arrive 10 minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork. Our shop can be a little tricky to find so we suggest giving yourself extra time for traffic and parking.

**No loose or baggy clothing. Hair that is shoulder length or longer should be tied back. Please wear closed-toe shoes. No sandals**

This is a 6 hour course, which will be broken up into a mandatory 4 hour session, and after a break, an optional 2 hour session where students can practice "specialties".
