This class introduces the student to the large format (4’x8’) Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) wood router and the principles of cutting with high speed milling tools. Students will be introduced to VicEngrave software, set-up and calibration, importing and running files and vacuum table operation. Students will execute a simple hands on project to demonstrate proficiency.
Prerequisites: It is strongly recommended that members have a basic knowledge of how to create vector-based files (i.e., .ai, .eps, .dxf, .dwg, .cdr file extensions) before taking this class. If these file types are foreign to you, you should attend the Design 2D Vector Graphics class before attending this class
CNC Fundamentals (Vcarve) is required before attending this class.
