    The TIG Welding course teaches students the basic principles involved in the set up and safe operation of the Tungsten Inert Gas process. Class will be lab/lecture style with opportunity to take notes, ask questions and receive hands on operation of the machines. Students will learn how to adjust the machines, strike an arc and join material as well as how to tell the difference between a good weld and a sub standard weld. The students will also learn how to trouble shoot problems associated with the process. 

     A $20 materials fee covers each student’s metal stock and welding consumables. 

    *Please wear appropriate shoes as you will operate the machine. LEATHER SHOES or BOOTS- NO SANDALS. Students should also wear long sleeve natural fiber shirts, long pants and long hair should be pulled back.*

    If you have a pair of safety glasses please bring them, otherwise a pair will be provided for you.

     Originally developed for welding aluminum and other non-ferrous materials in the 1940s, MIG was soon applied to steels because it provided faster welding time compared to other welding processes. 

    A $20 materials fee covers each student’s metal stock and welding consumables.
