Introduces the student to the Hurricane 80 watt and 100 watt laser cutter/engraving tools. The principles of laser cutting and engraving via pulses of intense light will be introduced. Materials, thicknesses, speed and applied power will be discussed. CorelDraw software to design parts and graphics will be used to create files directing the laser.  Students will execute a simple project to demonstrate proficiency.

Prerequisites: It is strongly recommended that members have a basic knowledge of how to create vector-based files (i.e- .ai, .eps, .dxf, .dwg, .cdr file extensions) before taking this class. If these file types are foreign to you, it is highly recommended that you attend the Intro to 2D Vector-Based graphics class before attending this class.
